Adia,
As I sit here watching you sleep in your Papa's arms, I realize these are the precious times in life we must always remember. One day, Papa won't be here. One day, we won't be gathering around this table. One day, we won't be coming to spend time in this house. "One day" will come too soon. So, always remember to never take a single second for granted.
I must say, your first Thanksgiving has been one out of a story book. We sang "Over the river and through the Woods" many, many times - which you loved! The day started with the Macy's Parade, then you watched us do some cooking. Uncle Adam and Aunt Barbara came over and we all gathered around the table to eat; you even tried some cranberry sauce!
We decorated the Christmas tree that night. Now that I have a child of my own, I have begun to realize how fast things change and how fast people grow older. There are so many special memories with family I wish you could have shared with me, but I am thankful for the new memories that we will have together. As we were pulling ornaments out of the box to hang on the tree, I came across one that Aunt Lib made- it was hard to see but I'm so thankful she had so much talent when it came to crafts, sewing, and painting because I have things to show you. You will be able to feel her love through the little things she made for me.
Your daddy and I have so much to be thankful for, this First Thanksgiving. We are thankful for you, thankful that you are a healthy and happy baby. We are thankful we have a home for you to sleep, enough food for you to eat, clean water for you to bathe, clothes to keep you warm, and enough diapers to keep you dry. We are thankful that you have both sets of Grandparents and I am very thankful that you will never question whether or not they love you.
You turned five months on Thanksgiving Day, that in itself is a major blessing to be thankful for! We are so thankful to be your parents!!
